Washington Independent Productions Creates Lifetime Achievement Award Video To Honor Senator Frank R. Lautenberg
WASHINGTON DC: To honor Senator Frank Lautenberg (D-NJ) as he received Hillel’s 2013 Renaissance Award, Washington Independent Productions (WIP) produced an 8-minute video shown at the awards ceremony.
The award ceremony took place in New York City on May 29, 2013. The Senator was too ill to attend but his wife, Bonnie Englebardt was among the 400 attendees at the Gala dinner in his honor and accepted the award on his behalf.
“People watching the video could really see the impact of my husband’s accomplishments,” said Englebardt after the ceremony. “It was very moving and filled with joy.” The event occurred just days before Sen. Lautenberg passed away at age 89.
The video highlights Sen. Lautenberg’s achievements in leadership, public service and commitment to Israel, to the Jewish community, and to the world. Among his great accomplishments was the banning of smoking on airplanes, improvements to the GI bill and the freeing of Soviet Jews.
“While I was doing research , it became very clear that the world is a better place because of Senator Lautenberg,” said Sue Stolov, producer and president of WIP. “It was an honor to work on this project. His life is an example to all to stand up for what you believe and how one person can truly make a difference in the world.”
At the time of his death he was the last remaining WWII veteran serving in the Senate, and the oldest Senator in office.
